My Great Aunt Margo taught me as a child to make my own luck. We’d check hotspots, like beneath the Burger King Drive Thru window, for dropped pennies (just got a phone call at 11:09 p.m. to let me know she found two quarters, four dimes, and twelve pennies today- $1.02 worth of luck!).  She secretly planted four leaf clover patches in my front yard. Most importantly, she always called the last night of each month to remind us to say “Rabbit Rabbit” in the morning. “If you said it January first, that’s luck for the whole year,” she told me on the phone tonight. “But it doesn’t hurt to say it again!”

Just ask Phantogram.

The secret is out- the Secret Sisters are here.  Backed by Grammy-winning producer behind the “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” soundtrack, T. Bone Burnett (side note: probably the coolest name ever), their self-titled debut album hits the shelves on October 12.  If you are looking for another Taylor Swift, don’t look here.  The singing sisters’ pure duets evoke old school Appalachian hits more than Nashville number ones.
