Bluebrain Record Store Day Release: “THE PULL”
Let’s face it: Washington is better known for its monuments and political snafus than its happening music scene. Obama must have put something in the water, though, because recently D.C.-based music duo Bluebrain has lent the District some clout as a hub of aural innovation. This month, Bluebrain has not only announced the upcoming release of a site-specific album, they have also collaborated with Sockets Records to create something the likes of which not even the hippest city has seen: a vinyl with a “C side.”
On Saturday, April 16—the highly anticipated Record Store Day—Bluebrain will release 300 limited edition 7”s entitled The Pull. This 7” isn’t your ordinary one-track album, though; you can play the A and B side songs alone, but to fully appreciate the genius behind the record, they suggest buying two albums and playing both A and B simultaneously to create a third song—the C side.
Is this an elaborate scheme to sell twice as many records, or the music format of the future? I guess we’ll have to wait until Saturday to find out. In the meantime, here’s Per Heistead with some more details:
The Pull is only available at four DC record stores, so get your copy quick, before some New Yorker comes and snaps them all up.
