“Don’t Take The Money” – Bleachers

One of the more successful projects to come out of the indie pop scene this decade has to be Bleachers, the work of fun.’s Jack Antonoff. Combining clever, romantic lyrics with retro synths and nostalgic beats, the band is an ode to 80s pop with all the modern vibes of today’s best indie.

Antonoff’s first album, Strange Desire, was released in 2014; a follow-up, Terrible Thrills Vol. 2, came out in 2015 and featured a cover of each song from the first album sung by female artists.

Bleachers released a new track, “Don’t Take the Money,” early in the morning on March 31st, after teasing new music on their Facebook. It’s a fantastic track, retaining all of what made Strange Desire great while crafting a more polished, heavily 80s-influenced anthem. The track also features uncredited vocals by Lorde, whose album Melodrama Antonoff has been involved in as a co-writer and producer.

Bleachers is rumored to be releasing a new album, Everybody Lost Somebody, out in June. They’re playing a few festivals across North America this summer, and just released a full tour schedule! Bleachers will be playing at Rams Head Live in Baltimore this June, and you can see the rest of their dates and get your tickets here.
