As summer approaches and I start to think about returning home to Pennsylvania, I’ve had some of my favorite Philly bands playing on repeat. While they run the gamut in terms of their styles, there’s something about the city that comes through in each. Here are a few highlights of the best bands to come out of the area in the past couple of years. If you have the chance to catch any of these guys live, be it in the City of Brotherly Love or elsewhere, enjoy! Plus: stop by Kurt Vile’s mural in Fishtown (shown above) next time you’re in town!
