While some Top 40 songs will inevitably end up being remixed and re-remixed to the point where you can barely remember what the original song was, every once and awhile I stumble across a more unexpected remix that for one reason or another, works. Below is a brief collection of some of my favorite indie/folk tunes that were remixed successfully.
The playlist kicks off with “Don’t Wanna Be Your Girl (Branchez Remix)” which transforms the beautiful slow paced, emotional song into a more upbeat tune with electronic-pop vibes you can’t resist. Similarly, Big Wild’s remix of Sylvan Esso’s “Hey Mami” is surprisingly fast paced and danceable. The playlist rounds off with songs from Daughter and Ben Howard, indie-folk artists who recently toured together and have found increasingly mainstream popularity over the past few years.
