It’s finally #holidayszn, and the Lumineers are helping us kick it off by playing the annual DC 101 Office Party. Happening this Wednesday, November 29th at the Anthem, the Office Party has a stacked lineup, with The Lumineers, Joywave, J. Roddy Walston and the Business, and Barns Courtney all making appearances.

Hailing from Denver, Colorado, the Lumineers have been touring for their 2016-released album, Cleopatra, for the past year and a half. When asked about  the album, lead vocalist and guitarist Wesley Schulz says, “We wanted to take our time, strip it right back to its raw and honest essentials, and make it an album we believe in.” The Cleopatra World Tour has sold over 750,000 tickets in the US alone with two sold out shows at Madison Square Garden in New York City. In addition to their own tour, the Lumineers have also supported Irish supergroup U2 on their “Joshua Tree World Tour 2017.”

In support of Cleopatra, the Lumineers released its visual representation, entitled “The Ballad of Cleopatra,” which depicts the life story of the cab driver lead-singer Wesley once interacted with and who later became the inspiration for the album. Piecing together the music videos for “Ophelia,” “Cleopatra,” “Sleep on the Floor,” and “Angela/Patience,” the visual provides the full story of Cleopatra, giving us all a piece of that conversation and allowing us to hit the refresh button, gain perspective, and be reminded of what is truly important in life.

Wednesday is sure to be a jam-packed night of great music, and I am so excited to see this band again.
