On February 29th, the mega-popular South Korean boy group BIGBANG released their fifth mini-album, titled “ALIVE”, for everyone to enjoy. If you are a follower of K-Pop (Korean Pop) then you probably have heard a song at least from this five-membered group that took all the top spots in Korean music charts when “ALIVE” was released. Despite the difference in language, BIGBANG has managed to have fans from all over the world and if anyone is a fan of dance, hip-hop, R&B and pop, I can assure you that you will find one BIGBANG song to enjoy. Album Review: SHINee, Sherlock EP

One of the most highly anticipated comebacks for K-Pop listeners was dropped Wednesday, March 21st. Although it is just an EP, it is SHINee’s comeback no less. But why so highly anticipated? It’s because the five-membered group from SM had not released a new song since their highly successful single, “Hello,” which was released in 2010. The long wait is also partly responsible for my disappointment in my first listen. Read More »

Expensive and Cheesy: EXO’s Elongated Debut

Since late December, SM Entertainment has been teasing K-Pop enthusiasts with their gazillion teasers for their latest boy group EXO, or as I like to call them, Super Junior 2.0. Divided into two subgroups name EXO-K and EXO-M, half of the twelve members will promote in South Korea (EXO-K) and the other half in China (EXO-M). This might remind some of Super Junior and their subgroup, Super Junior M. But EXO is different for each subgroup has different members and singers. They might as well be two distinct groups. But despite their similarities to Super Junior, there is no denying the fact that they are another level of talent.
