You may remember our dear friend and DC local musician Long Walks on the Beach, who has played our stage and who has played on our station many many times and who has no doubt played on repeat in your head, in your heart, in the deep recesses of your mind as you’re falling asleep, all thumping bass drums and jingle-jangling guitars, filling the empty dark room, building slowly from a beat, with smooth, even-keeled vocals: slow jam on a Saturday night.

Best Coast, Cults, LWOTB Heat Up Bulldog Alley

On Saturday night, WGTB welcomed a sold out crowd of students and the DC public to Bulldog Alley for its annual fall concert. Best Coast headlined the evening with an energetic set of their signature California surf rock. WGTB favorite and DC local Long Walks on the Beach got the crowd dancing, and was followed by the hazy melodies of the newly signed Cults. This Saturday, we’re all going to be taught a little lesson on which coast is really the best. Our east coast doldrums due to the melancholy weather of November are about to be thrown for a loop when Best Coast brings us a little of those California chill vibes. Based out of LA, the trio will transform Bulldog Alley with their lo-fi surf sounds.

Playlist: WGTB’s Preemptive Strike Against S.A.D.

In our last couple weekend playlists, we brought you soundtracks to accompany the delights of early fall: hot cider, cool weather, scarves and sweaters. But fall isn’t all crisp air and colored leaves. No, with November comes the final pre-Thanksgiving Break crunch, chilly weather and the gradual loss of precious daylight.
