TurnTABLE: Kale Chips

Hey friends! The first episode of TurnTABLE is just around the corner. I’m super excited to be kicking off the show this week.

The framework for this show works like a kind of interactive cookbook: each week I’ll have a new recipe for you to try (it could be something fun and random, something long passed down in my family, or maybe a favorite of a friend); and then I’ll add the musical parings that seem, in my mind, to correlate with the taste. I like to think of it as a MixPlate – like a mix-tape playlist but also something to put on your plate (haha anyway I think its clever). And safe to say, just as food is multicultural and varied to many different tastes, so too will the music here vary – in genre, in age, in every way possible.

If you want to cook along with me and the show, you’ll be able to find the list of ingredients/supplies you’ll need by Wednesday of each week at the latest.

This week is kale chips. Kale chips are a fun, super easy, and a good way to start snacking healthy if that’s not typically your thing. Also get ready for some 90s, early 2000s favorites of mine that I think match the creativity and edginess of what we’ll be cooking.

Here’s what you need:

  • 1 or 2 bunches of kale, washed and dried
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil per bunch
  • Cumin and paprika option (a half and a fourth)
  • Parmesan and chili pepper option
  • Rough grain sea salt
  • Lemon juice
  • A really large bowl
  • Non-stick baking sheet or baking sheet with parchment paper
  • Tongs
