y = mx + beat: Overlap

A weekly attempt to organize everything we could possibly know [about music] into image form. Because that’s just easier than figuring out words sometimes.
y = mx + beat is written and illustrated by Michelle Cassidy and Meagan Kelly, co-hosts of The Stoop, airing Saturdays from 12-1PM. You should be listening while you’re eating hangover brunch at Leo’s.
NICE NAME! glad it stuck
looking forward to future maps n gridz. p.s. the stoop is a great name for a radio show. makes me think of casual acoustic guitar strums on a brooklyn brownstone stoop. lez make it happen à la georgetown
vinyl is played on a phonograph. or maybe hipsters enjoy amassing and possessing vinyl, and don’t feel the need to play their records?
I love this. Old people and hipsters also share ‘Cardigans.’
this is good. when I interviewed some astronauts this summer about playing music in space, one told me that the first problem when they flew up a bunch of instruments to space was deciding what songs to play. “but we quickly discovered everyone likes the beatles,” he said. even aliens!!!!!
old people and hipsters share a surprising amount if you think about it… over sized glasses, old clothing, generally complaining too much, “i liked the original better”…
The one thing they don’t share is the hipster diet of chain smoking and coffee… i wonder why that might be.
