Julien Baker is an American singer-songwriter known for her hauntingly beautiful melodies and introspective lyrics that delve into themes of vulnerability, mental health, and personal growth. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Baker began her musical journey at a young age, playing guitar and writing songs that resonate with a deep emotional authenticity.
She gained recognition with her debut album, Sprained Ankle (2015), a raw and poignant exploration of her struggles with her Christian faith, substance abuse, and queer identity. Baker’s follow-up albums, Turn Out the Lights (2017) and Little Oblivions (2021), further showcased her evolution as an artist. Her collaboration with artists Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus in the wildly successful Boygenius has further broadened her reach, connecting her with a wider, more mainstream audience. Baker will be the first member to embark on a tour since the band announced their indefinite hiatus earlier this year, continuing her evolution as a solo artist despite her newfound fame.
On September 27, Baker will bring her North American tour to Washington, D.C. to perform at the historic Atlantis. Doors open at 7:30pm, and while tickets are already sold out, there are still many tickets available for resale.
