Goth Babe Coming to The Anthem (9/6)

This September 6, the legendary indie pop artist Griff Washburn – more commonly known by stage alias Goth Babe – will dawn the stage of the Anthem. Following a surely riveting opening by the Aces, the alternative all-female pop band that delivered us the iconic “Stuck” and “Girls Make Me Wanna Die,” Washburn will perform his long-anticipated first album Lola for a doting crowd that largely conglomerated following his streak of popular singles and EPs.

Goth Babe’s dark-sounding moniker well weaponizes the power of juxtaposition, as first-timers may be taken aback to learn that he is the force behind eclectic, upbeat tracks like “Weekend Friend” and “Canary Islands”. His music feels more fitting for a nostalgic end-of-the-summer barbecue than anything else, and it’s near impossible to not bop your head to his fun and lighthearted beat. Lola builds on his already strong foundation of psychedelic pop, while also showcasing his experimental musical ambitions through tracks like “Bioluminescence” that rev up that familiar hallucinogenic sound. Washburn proves himself to be an artist that will not be limited by what he’s produced in the past.

Be sure not to miss how Goth Babe’s immersive, feel-good vibes translates in a live music setting. I expect Washburn’s stage presence to be nothing short of a testament to the powerful intersection of sound and mood. Come experience the magic.
