Coasts is a high-spirited electro-indie rock from Bristol, England that needs to be added to your Spotify playlists; especially if you are a fan of that hipster, indie-rock sound that is so popular right now.
Coasts was formed when the members met while attending university in Bath. The band is comprised of Chris Caines (vocals), James Gamage (bass), David Goulbourn (keys), Liam Willford (guitar), and Ben Street (drums).
Since forming in 2011, Coasts has released “Stay,” their debut single which received praise from BBC broadcasters, and the band was named by iTunes as “Ones to Watch” in July 2014.
Not only has the band’s music received praise, but Coasts is also known for their high-profiled festival appearances, such as their sets at Coachella and Glastonbury this year (both of which drew fairly large crowds despite the band having never released a full length album.)
Now, after signing a record deal with Warner Music in the UK, and Capitol Records in the United States, Coasts is back with new music, and a debut record dropping in early 2016. Their latest single, “Oceans” has reached over 4 million plays on SoundCloud and has garnered international media attention.
For a British band, Coasts has a very electro-indie California sound. The band has a feel good sound that will bring you back to those summer vibes. With piercing, clear cut vocals, and capturing lyrics, Coasts music is guaranteed to capture your attention for all the right reasons.
Coasts has been rightly compared to the likes of Two Door Cinema Club, Phoenix, and fellow British band The 1975.
The band’s self-titled debut album is coming out on January 22nd, 2016 so mark your calendars!
