BABYMETAL with Scene Queen at The Anthem (11/15)

On Friday, November 15, Japanese idol group BABYMETAL will play a sold-out show at The Anthem in Washington D.C. with support from alternative rock artist Scene Queen.

Formed in 2010, BABYMETAL started as a subunit of the Japanese idol group Sakura Gakuin, with their first musical works appearing on the album Sakura Gakuin 2010 Nendo: Message. The group produced Japanese pop music focusing on themes of school life and Japanese kawaii culture. At the same time, the BABYMETAL sub-group introduced a fusion of Japanese pop with alternative metal. In 2013, members Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal), Moa Kikuchi (Moa-metal), and Yui Mizuno (Yui-metal) departed from Sakura Gakuin, making BABYMETAL its own act. Momoko Akazaki (Momometal) would later leave Sakura Gakuin to join BABYMETAL in 2019, only appearing on the group’s 2023 album THE OTHER ONE. Over 11 years of making music as an independent group, the group has experimented with countless genres, from Power Metal to Ska, Djent, Hip-Hop, and Japanese Idol Pop. The group additionally possesses a jaw-dropping array of guest appearances and collaborations, ranging from Lil Uzi Vert, Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine, Joakim Brodén of Sabaton, and Bring Me The Horizon.

Scene Queen is a pop and alternative rock artist who released her first single “Are You Tired?” in 2020. In June of 2024, she released her sophomore album Hot Singles In Your Area, and later released another single, “The Best Thing (That Never Happened)” in collaboration with Hopelessly Devoted To You in August of 2024.

Tickets are sold out for this show, but make sure to check out The Anthem’s other upcoming shows!
