“Midnight Moon” – Oh Wonder

Oh Wonder’s new single might be described as the sound of spring knocking on your door. Right from the start, it gets to the point with a peppy drumbeat and a direct address to “you with the wide eyes.” Where last month’s release relied heavily on electronic sounds, “Midnight Moon” creates a three-dimensional experience with acoustic guitars, bright piano, and subtle sitar. This wholesome sound is nicely contrasted by the break, stripped down to a poised marimba line cutting deep, drudgy synths. With “Midnight Moon” leaving its listeners in the stars, there’s no telling what little treasure the duo will drop next month.
