Preview: Calexico @ 9:30 Club 10/28

Next Friday, October 28, the venerable Tucson, AZ-based indie rock band Calexico brings their ever evolving sound to the 9:30 Club stage. After a decades long career spanning indie, folk, and mariachi music, as well as two collaborations with Iron and Wine, this year’s El Mirador, the band’s tenth studio album, finds Calexico turning back to their roots to explore norteño and cumbia alongside rock and blues. Album highlights like “Cumbia Peninsula” and “El Paso” evoke a desert borderland where musical hybrids flourish. Montreal-based singer songwriter Ada Lea opens the early show starting at 7pm. Tickets are still available.
