“Runnin’ (Lose It All)” – Naughty Boy ft. Beyoncé, Arrow Benjamin

It was a dark and music filled night, and I was scrolling down the home page of youtube trying to find something to watch that would distract me from doing any actual homework. I saw a thumbnail for a music video that was just released, and seeing Beyoncé’s name, I quickly clicked on it. I was prepared, and could not wait, to hear a new song by Beyoncé, even though she was only a featured artist. At the same time, I was not expecting meaningful lyrics, a fantastic duet, or an incredible build up to the song, but that is exactly what I got.

Naughty Boy is no stranger to chart topping songs or musical fame, but when you add his talent and experience as a producer, musician, and songwriter to the icon that is Beyoncé, there is no stopping them. The single starts off with a steady rhythm, only to be replaced by a faster tempo, and Arrow Benjamin has such a soulful and smooth voice that it does well to complement and even contend with Beyoncé’s vocals throughout the song. The music video is what initially attracted me to the song, but the more I listen to it, the more I am surprised by just how good it is. The fact that Beyoncé is not the main singer in the song also makes me appreciate her more as an artist. She is able to adapt and adjust her singing style to better fit with someone else’s, and the final product is something very good and very catchy. Check out the music video below and decide for yourself.
