Third Eye Blind at Merriweather Post Pavilion (7/19), with Yellowcard and A R I Z O N A

This Friday at the Merriweather Post Pavilion, pop-punk bands A R I Z O N A and
Yellowcard will open for 90s alternative rock legends Third Eye Blind as part of Third
Eye Blind’s Summer Gods 2024 tour.

Formed in the mid-1990s in San Francisco, California, Third Eye Blind burst onto the
rock scene after delivering a powerful opening for Oasis at their concert in San
Francisco in 1997. The band would then go on to deliver a hit-packed debut album in
the same year, with catchy and radio-friendly songs that stood out from the distinct
sounds of Grunge and alternative rock at the time. Singer, songwriter, and guitarist
Stephan Jenkins remains the only member still playing in the band after 30 years since
its founding, acting as the face of the band.

While Yellowcard also formed in the 1990s, they wouldn’t achieve major success in
2003, when they shifted from a hardcore punk sound to a more easily digestible
pop-punk sound. Led by singer Ryan Key, the band is most well known for their album
and hit song with the same name, Ocean Avenue. The song and album are both
recognized as symbolic of the heyday of the pop-punk genre, which reached its height
in the early to mid-2000s in part due to the success of Yellowcard and other musical
acts. While the band announced that 2016’s self-titled would be their last full-length
album, they have still gone on to record a number of additional singles and extended
plays, including 2023’s Childhood Eyes and a cover of Jimmy Eat World’s song Hear
You Me in July of 2024.

Despite its name A R I Z O N A is a rock-pop band from New Jersey, with a sound
blending soulful pop vocals, uplifting guitar riffs, and catchy but impactful lyrics. The
band’s debut album Gallery reached great success on Billboard’s rock and dance music
charts in 2017, thanks to singles such as “Oceans Away” and “Cross My Mind.” Despite
a 4 year hiatus, the band released a self-titled album in 2023, and is set to tour for the
second time since releasing their latest album.

Tickets are still available here, make sure to grab one before they sell out!
