Alison Wonderland continues her first North American tour this weekend, playing at SoundGarden Hall in Philly on the 12th and at U Street Music Hall right here in D.C. on Sunday, the 14th. Alison Wonderland is the stage name of classically-trained cellist Alex Sholler, who released her debut album, Run, in March of 2015. Scholler worked with artists like Lido, Djemba Djemba, and Slumberjack when producing the tracks, and her vocals are heavily featured all over the album. Allmusic.com described the album as ‘vibrant and wonderfully varied’ – but some genres it may fit into are alternative dance, chillwave, trip hop, and trap.
Prior to Run, Alison Wonderland released singles and remixes starting in 2012 leading up to her first EP, Calm Down, which dropped in June of 2014. After releasing the EP she announced the Wonderland Warehouse Project with producers Wave Racer and Young Franco, a tour of Australia and New Zealand’s warehouses turned into dance venues. She also joined Listen Out 2015, a touring festival in Australia that featured Childish Gambino and Joey Bada$$. Don’t miss out on her first time performing in the District.
Golden Features will be the opening act. Alison Wonderland at U Street Music Hall opens at 8:00 PM on Sunday, February 14th. 18+. $20.
