“Hot Thoughts” – Spoon

2017 is looking up: on January 17th, Austin-based indie rock legends Spoon released the single “Hot Thoughts,” indicating a return to form (and to the studio) for the prolific group.

The incredibly catchy track is less drum-and-bass-driven than 2014’s They Want My Soul, fitting more closely into the niche created by earlier works like Gimme Fiction and the fantastic Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. We’ll have to wait until March to see what direction the band takes with Hot Thoughts, but if it’s anything like the title track, it’s sure to be good.

Be on the look out for Spoon in DC. They’re spending three nights in my hometown of Austin for SXSW, but they’re likely to tour up north as well.
