Preview: Johnathan Richman @ Lincoln Theater 10/14

Jonathan Richman takes on Lincoln Theater with lifelong friend Tommy Larkins on drums as they tour the U.S. debuting the 2022 album Want to Visit My Inner House? produced by Cleveland-based Blue Arrow Records. Richman is a seasoned soloist, touring since the early nineties, however he first got his start with the founding of The Modern Lovers in 1970. With direct inspiration and close proximity to the up and coming proto-punk scene of New York City, Richman and the Modern Lovers were heavily influenced by bands such as The Velvet Underground. Richman has relied on acoustic guitar in the latter years of his performance career, in order to protect his hearing, and his style has been described as harnessing a childlike, simple melodic quality to portray a sense of whimsy. He also, apparently, runs a masonry company on the side where he makes pizza ovens.
