Preview: Mitch Rowland @ 9:30 Club, 3/11

On March 11, the 9:30 Club is set to welcome singer-songwriter Mitch Rowland to its stage. The Ohio native turned LA local will be stopping in D.C. as part of his first solo tour. Although Rowland is no newcomer to the music industry—he has been a songwriter, guitarist, and collaborator for Harry Styles’ three solo albums—this will mark Rowland’s first time playing songs from his own album Come June

In addition to his iconic folksy sound, Rowland takes a lot of his inspiration from the bands of his childhood, including Aerosmith and the Black Crowes. What began as a simple fascination with a family friend’s jukebox hits has blossomed into a full-fledged love of music spanning from Nirvana to Nick Drake. Many of Rowland’s songs reflect this eclectic love of music: “Here Comes the Comeback” sounds vaguely like a Harry Styles-esque track; “All the Way Back” features vocals from none other than Ben Harper; the title song “Come June” serves as a wistful organ-led opening to the album.

Come June has been in the works for a long time, with Rowland writing many of the songs while quarantining with his wife Sarah Jones—who also plays drums for Harry Styles. Whether you have been waiting for Rowland to launch his solo career or you simply want to see what makes him “Harry Styles’ favorite guitarist,” now is the time – tickets are available for his show at the 9:30 Club on Monday, March 11!
