Kate Bollinger is scheduled to perform at The Black Cat in Washington D.C. on Friday, October 18. The Virginia-born, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter has been making waves in the indie music scene with her distinctive blend of folk, classic pop, and psychedelic rock.
Bollinger recently released her debut full-length album, Songs From A Thousand Frames Of Mind. This album marks a significant evolution in her sound, moving from her earlier EPs and solo performances to a fuller, more collaborative approach. The record showcases Bollinger’s ability to combine classic pop songcraft with elements of folk and psychedelic rock, all while maintaining her signature intimate, stream-of-consciousness lyrics, from songs like from “To Your Own Devices” and “God Interlude.”
In crafting her recent album, Bollinger worked with several collaborators, including Matthew E. White of Spacebomb Records as co-writer on some tracks, and Sam Evian as producer. The resulting work reflects a wide range of influences, spanning from 1960s icons like Françoise Hardy and the Velvet Underground to 1990s touchstones such as No Doubt and Pavement.
The set list is likely to feature tracks from her new album, possibly alongside selections from her earlier works. Bollinger’s live performances are known for their use of classic instrumentation to support her vocal performances, creating a sound that’s both familiar and uniquely her own.
