Montreal-based electro-soul group Busty and the Bass will take the stage at U Street Music Hall this coming Thursday, December 7 in support of their debut album, Uncommon Good. A nine-piece ensemble that draws inspiration from an eclectic mix of hip-hop, soul, electronica, and jazz, the band’s music and performances are near impossible to forget.

Busty and the Bass’ nine founding members met while studying music at McGill University in Montreal. They began performing together in 2011 in what started as an instrumental cover band, but the band wrote their first original song with lyrics in 2014, and Nick Ferraro assumed the role of lead vocalist. With this song called “Tryna Find Myself,” Busty and the Bass entered a nationwide competition to find Canada’s top university band. They ultimately won the title and were awarded $10,000, along with the chance to open for alt-rock band Arkells.

Since then, the band has released two EPs titled GLAM and LIFT, released in 2015 and 2016, respectively. On September 8, 2017, they released their first full-length album, Uncommon Good. They’re no strangers to the festival circuit, performing at Budweiser’s Made in America Festival this past summer and Montreal’s very own Osheaga Festival in the summer of 2016. This Thursday, doors open at 7:00 p.m., and Busty and the Bass will take the stage shortly thereafter. You can still purchase tickets to the show here, and check out Uncommon Good below:
