Preview: Jay Som @ DC9

Oakland indie pop artist Jay Som will hit the stage next week at DC9 Nightclub on U Street. The performance follows the release of her recent album Everybody Works, which drew critical acclaim and added an essential element to her budding musical legacy.

A native of San Francisco, Melina Duterte (Jay Som) has gained popularity over the last year since her release of Turn Into in 2015. An avid proponent of diversity in the indie music world and a complicated personal figure, Duterte has built a compelling though brief career and gathered a loyal following.

Her recent album Everybody Works received praise from Pitchfork and other critics after its 2017 release and should make her current tour a special experience. Her DC show is sold out, but you can see the rest of her tour dates here.
