Belarusian Post-Punk coming to DC: Molchat Doma @ The Anthem, 2/11

Belarusian post-punk band, Molchat Doma, is set to preform at The Anthem on Feburary 11th. The band’s dark and gothic style combines common post-punk sounds reminiscent of bands like Joy Division with modern danceable synth-pop. The frontman, Egor Shutko, sings Russian lyrics in a deep tone supported by the rest of the band’s electronic and mesmerizing instrumentals.

The band released their last album, Belaya Polosa in September 2024 and are releasing their first live album Live at Panorama Hotel later in 2025. Users of social media may recognize the band from their viral hit, “Sudno (Boris Ryzhy),” which first started appearing on the app TikTok in 2018. According to Pitchfork, the song became a staple for videos fascinated by the haunted and edgy “soviet aesthetic” among users.
