Review: Lime Cordiale at The Atlantis, 2/24

On February 24th, Lime Cordiale played a show at The Atlantis Club in Washington D.C. to continue on their tour of their new album Enough of the Sweet Talk. This new album has been a big hit, continuing the band’s exciting and energetic sound that fans love and taking the music all around the world. The band is led by two brothers: Oli and Louis Leimbach, from Sydney, Australia. During the Australia and New Zealand portions of their tour, the brothers have sold out entire stadiums and though The Atlantis is not quite as large of a venue, it was a packed crowd with a full balcony and main floor.

As the show started, the stage was lit up with colorful light displays and neon lights. These continued to change throughout the show as the band performed, which seemed to change the stage a bit based on the song. I also thought that the light show added to the energy of the performance, though not more than the two brothers themselves.

In total, there were five members on the stage: the two main brothers who both sang vocals and played some guitar, a keyboardist, a drummer, and a trombone player/guitarist. All together this made the band’s music feel even more exciting as they kept switching exactly who was playing what instrument. Sometimes there were two guitars, sometimes a saxophone, and we even got to hear a clarinet solo and a kazoo for one of the songs. The crowd seemed impressed with the variety of instrumentation throughout the performance and it added to the energetic environment.

The two brothers were the main source of entertainment, as they are at all of their shows. They were always moving around the stage and even off the stage at one point as one of them climbed up into the balcony while singing. At many points in the concert they involved the crowd with the music including dividing the crowd in half and trying to get each side to sing louder and louder.

Ultimately, Lime Cordiale put on a great performance with high energy that excited everyone in the crowd. They played all of their hit songs from “Imposter Syndrome” to “Temper Temper” and delivered an impressive performance that I would definitely see again!
