Busty and the Bass @ Songbyrd

Busty and the Bass, a band from Montreal, has been on their US tour for all of February, and last Friday, they performed to a huge crowd at the Songbyrd Cafe.

Songbyrd is a small basement venue decorated with fairy lights and band stickers, and it provided a great vibe for Friday’s concert. I was able to get close to the stage and the music filled the small room, allowing even those in the back of the room to get the full experience.

Busty and the Bass’s music is an upbeat and electric take on classic soul, and all nine members are very talented musicians. Unlike many popular bands of today, they move past just guitars and drums, using trumpets, trombones, saxophones, and keyboards to create incredible music that makes their audience want to dance.

Opening with “Miss Judge,” the first song off of their latest album, Busty and the Bass played through all of their most popular songs, as well as a new one; by the end of the night, the whole audience was dancing.

Busty and the Bass creates great music, and they are even better live. They perform with energy and passion, and I could tell that they really enjoy making music and performing for a crowd. I would recommend that everyone see them, should they get the chance. You can also check out their latest EP, Lift, below.
