“Let’s Go” (Remix) – Khalid and GoldLink

True story:  I audibly shrieked when I saw this remix appear on last week’s installment of New Music Friday on Spotify. I am obsessed with Khalid and GoldLink as individuals, and something came over me when I saw that they had come together for one of my favorite Khalid tracks, “Let’s Go.” This remix is an addition to the rendition of Khalid’s viral hit “Location,” featuring appearances from hip-hop great Lil Wayne and R&B queen Kehlani, that was released last month.

GoldLink, born D’Anthony Carlos, is a D.C. native whose fusion of breezy hip hop with energetic indie-beats has captivated many listeners, myself included. He dropped his debut album, At What Cost, this March and is quickly becoming a well-known name in the hip-hop world.

On the remix of “Let’s Go,”  GoldLink kicks off the song with a strong verse about his rise to fame and the people who have left him in the process. Khalid then comes in to croon the rest the song, with his gravelly timbre on full display. The 19-year-old El Paso, Texas native has had a busy year so far. He dropped his debut album, American Teen, on March 3rd, was featured on Kylie Jenner’s snapchat, and is currently on tour with Travis Scott. “Let’s Go” echoes the theme of teenage freedom and recklessness that characterizes American Teen, and emphasizes going where the world takes you. The line “pick up your worries and throw them out the window” particularly resonates with finals fast approaching.

This track is an absolute jam, and will likely be my song of the summer.  For more songs inspired by the vibes of this remix, throw a listen to the playlist below:
