Alison Wonderland played U Street Music Hall on Sunday night as part of her first US tour. Alex Sholler, the Australian DJ who goes by Alison Wonderland, gave the sold-out crowd a seriously high energy show.
The stage was flanked by two screens shaped into large pyramids which set the booth away from the crowd. The visuals for the set were projected onto the screens and included geometric shapes which overlaid video of the DJs hands moving across the tables. Even though the screens distanced the booth from the sold-out crowd, Alison Wonderland was able to engage and ignite the crowd by climbing in front of the booth. She was basically her own hype man, as she danced around the front lip of the stage. The crowd was into it, dancing and jumping while simultaneously snapchatting the entire set.
Although the Aussie is used to playing large stadium venues, her set translated well to the smaller D.C. club. As she continues her tour, fans can look forward to a more intimate experience with the super energetic DJ.
