Bear’s Den is an alternative folk rock group hailing from London, made up of Andrew Davie (lead vocals, guitar) and Kevin Jones (vocals, drums, bass, guitar). Their third member, Joey Haynes (vocals, banjo, guitar), left early last year. They are lovingly known as “Beard’s Den” by some fans because of their prominent facial hair.
Bear’s Den is best known for their song “Above the Clouds of Pompeii,” from their dreamy-yet-folky sounding album Islands. Their newest album, Red Earth and Pouring Rain, was released in 2016 and is edgier, with more electric guitar and upbeat bass lines. Their sound is at once reminiscent of Mumford & Sons’ Wilder Mind and Ben Howard.
They are playing a sold out show this weekend at U Street Music Hall.
