Preview: Big Thief @ The Anthem 4/21

Big Thief returned this February with Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You, a double-album full of yearning and woodsy-nostalgia. In keeping with the themes of the band’s previous four albums, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You’s twenty tracks talk about things left undone and the moments that seem too small to sing a song about. The foursome of Adrianne Lenker, Matt Oleartchik, Buck Meek, and James Krivchenia have kept the serene folk-rock tone of their earlier work, but the emotional sincerity of this album is enhanced by the sillier sounds they’ve slipped into the details of these twenty songs. Describing their growth in making this album, lead-singer and guitarist Lenker said, “I think we’re starting to give ourselves more and more permission to bring all aspects of ourselves to the table of what Big Thief is.”

There are still tickets available to “come together for a moment/Look around and dissolve” this Thursday. Big Thief will be performing in DC tomorrow, April 21st, at The Anthem.
