Preview: Earl Sweatshirt @ The Anthem

Rapper Earl Sweatshirt—accompanied by fellow artists Action Bronson, The Alchemist, and Boldy James—will perform at Washington D.C.’s The Anthem on Saturday, February 19th. Earl Sweatshirt, real name Thebe Neruda Kgositsile, is one of the most influential rappers of his generation. Hailing from an impressive family and growing up in Los Angeles, Earl first gained fame rapping for the group Odd Future with the now-famous Tyler, the Creator. These days, Kgositsile is best known for his laidback delivery, complex lyrics, and depressing yet enticing subject matter in his music. His latest album, SICK!, was released on January 14th of this year, and in typical Earl Sweatshirt fashion, clocks in at just over twenty four minutes and ten tracks. Nevertheless, Kgositsile’s artistry on his latest record is unmatched, from the labyrinthine cover photo to the fact that Earl co-produced some of the music. Beyond Kgositsile, fellow rappers Action Bronson and Boldly James and producer The Alchemist will put on an amazing show in the nation’s capital. These artists hold big names in the music world and are famous for putting on crowd-rousing shows, so seeing them on the stage together is certainly an event that one will not regret seeing.
