Preview: Third Eye Blind @ Fillmore Silver Spring

Nineties rockers Third Eye Blind will be in the DMV Thursday night at the Fillmore Silver Spring, headlining the first night of FM 94.7’s Not So Silent Night. While 3EB is known for nineties anthems such as “Semi-Charmed Life,” “Jumper,” and “How’s It Going To Be,” their music runs deeper than the endless list of classics immortalized in the nineties. The band will certainly deliver their most popular and revered hits, but you will likely also hear some songs you may be less familiar with if you make the trek out to the Fillmore this Thursday night. 3EB has never ceased releasing new music, most recently dropping the full-length Dopamine in the summer of 2015 and the EP We Are Drugs in October 2016. However, this isn’t going to be one of those concerts when an older band forces their “new stuff” upon you. Okay, it might be, but you might not actually mind, because that new stuff is actually good. Songs off their new albums seamlessly blend EDM and alt rock. It sounds like the classic Third Eye Blind you know and love, just with a modern twist, an updated version. The biggest songs off the recent albums are very energetic and danceable, and should prove to be very concert friendly. The show promises a feel-good, dance and sing along relief from finals stress. Tickets are still available. Opening acts are Wrabel and The Rua. Doors at 7pm.
