Adagio for Strings is a work by Samuel Barber that he wrote in 1936. The Adagio was first performed to critical acclaim when he was just 28 years old. It is surprising that at such a young age he was able to fill his piece with such intense emotion and wisdom about pain. Sadly his life would be beset with pain as he fought with alcoholism and was rejected and isolated later in his life. Read More »
