“Lifetimes” – Oh Wonder

British indie pop duo Oh Wonder, which consists of Josephine Vander Gucht and Anthony West, stays true to its signature sound on “Lifetimes,” the second single released from their upcoming album Ultralife, due in mid-June. After the release of their self-titled debut album in September 2015, Oh Wonder quickly garnered a loyal following via online streaming and their performances on the festival circuit, amassing over 400,000 followers on Spotify in the process.

“Lifetimes,” released April 7, is an upbeat love song, reminiscent of Oh Wonder’s past endeavors “Drive” and “Lose It” with its simple, piano-driven beat and whimsical lyrics. Unlike past tracks, however, “Lifetimes” blends piano with synths and an orchestral arrangement during the chorus, exhibiting Vander Gucht and West’s musical growth and willingness to experiment without sacrificing their trademark sound. While this track may not lull me to sleep (in a good way, of course) as effectively as many of Oh Wonder’s past releases, “Lifetimes” is as refreshing and easy on the ears as ever, and it is sure to usher in an exciting new era of musical success for Vander Gucht and West.

Ultralife is due to be released on June 16, 2017.  Pre-order it here and check out “Ultralife,” the album’s eponymous single, below:
