Chicago has produced some of the greatest rappers and hip hop artists of all time, and Mick Jenkins is another of the city’s young musicians looking to make a name for himself in hip hop. Since the beginning of his career in 2012, Jenkins has released four mixtapes, including his critically acclaimed 2014 release,The Waters, an EP follow-up titled Waves, and one full length studio album, The Healing Component.
Jenkins’ music discusses issues of love, healing, and police brutality, and the theme of water is consistent both in his music and the visuals that accompany his releases.
Jenkins will be performing this Sunday, April 30th, at the Fillmore in Silver Spring, Maryland. Tickets are available here, and check out The Healing Component below.
