Lianne La Havas is a goddess. Hailing from London, the singer/songwriter/killer guitarist is the daughter of a Jamaican mother and a Greek father. Her second album, Blood, was released last year and earned her a Grammy nomination. She has caught the attention of big names in the music industry, opening for Coldplay on their most recent tour, and earning a feature on Prince’s 2014 album Art and Official Age. This single was released in August of 2016, preceding her fall US tour with Leon Bridges, and man, this girl can sing.
Her rendition of the classic Aretha Franklin song “Say a Little Prayer” was recorded live at Belgium’s Rock Werchter festival, and showcases her insane range while she simultaneously shreds on the guitar. About the song, Lianne says: “It’s a perfect song in every way – I absolutely love singing it, so I hope that I have done it some justice.” ‘Doing this song justice’ is an understatement. Watch the video below for an out of body experience – I got chills the first time I watched it.
