Beach House made the surprising release of their sixth album, Thank Your Lucky Stars, in October, just two months after gifting the world with Depression Cherry. In their wake, a lot of comparisons have been drawn and even more divisively, rankings of the two have split fans down the Thank Your/Depression Cherry line. While I thoroughly enjoy both, I’ve been listening to Thank Your Lucky Stars on repeat more often. So, I find myself more inclined to favor their latest tracks. Among them, “Elegy to the Void” is my favorite. It is certainly darker, lyrically and tempo-wise, yet the swell about mid-way through is worth working up to. Give the rest of the album a listen, too; it’s full of the duo’s continually stunning work.
